A Day in the Life of Mohamed Mohamed

After the success of previous articles, we again focus on ‘a day in the life’ of a JATO employee, giving you an insight into the people behind the data at JATO. In this issue we speak to Mohamed Mohamed, Web Platform Solutions Architect based in the UK.

?

We asked Mohamed a series of questions reflecting on his time at JATO to date, here is what he has to say…

How long have you worked at JATO?

I joined JATO on 27th April 2011 as a Web Platform Solutions Architect and have been with the company for over 5 years.

What are the main tasks you do in an average day at JATO?

My main task is to investigate and evaluate technology solutions for the JATO business and look at how they can be best utilised to meet the needs and wants of our customers. Part of my role is to think about how new technology can be implemented into our current processes to make them easier from start to finish. I work closely with our Product Managers to understand the challenges they face and then I am responsible for coming up with the ideas and delivering the right solutions to fit their requirements. I initiate an architectural design to focus the efforts of our development team towards delivering the vision, across all our web based technology solutions.

What is the most difficult part of your role?

The work I do requires creativity in coming up with the best possible solutions to any challenge for which we have to create an application. My biggest personal challenge is to ensure that practical solutions always incorporate that creativity, even when timelines are tight.

What do you like best about your job?

I like it when a solution that I came up with and developed goes to market, adds value and helps our customers. I like the great team of people at JATO; who challenge me every day to come up with ideas and then turn them into reality!

What is your proudest achievement from working at JATO?

I am very lucky to have joined JATO, when JATO was in a position to replace its Web 1.0 business solutions with Web 2.0. This was a great opportunity for me in transforming JATO into a business that can offer best in class solutions.  I have worked hard to guide the team in developing much more integrated solutions. For example, exploiting the web environment to give clients easier access than ever before and utilising technologies powered by Restful Web APIs that make it simpler and quicker for us to offer our clients the benefits of our data, our intelligence and our systems.
