New Hyundai i30 & Honda Civic: a second life for these two Compacts

38The new Hyundai i30 and Honda Civic are the new Compacts to be presented during the Paris Motor Show. These two Compacts are aiming to gain a share of the segment which is currently dominated by the Volkswagen Golf. Although this seems like a difficult task, other launches such as the new Opel/Vauxhall Astra and Peugeot 308 have shown that it is possible to break into this segment successfully through innovative design so the industry will be watching the C-Segment closely following these additions.

The Hyundai is expected to have significant registrations volumes with 120,000 units by the year 2018. Meanwhile the new Civic’s sales will fluctuate between 60,000 and 50,000 units per year between 2017 and 2020. Compact segment is traditionally difficult as most of the consumers keep loyal to their current brand. This is why the Volkswagen Golf continues to rule without any real threat, and Volkswagen Group controls 36% of the segment volume.
