The clearest view of the automotive market
Specifications, prices, volumes and incentives, connected around the same vehicle and described in one common language
When data is siloed, the market map is incomplete
Pricing, product and strategy teams typically work from different sources. List prices get benchmarked without knowing what incentives competitors are really offering. Sales are viewed without the detail needed to understand what's really driving demand. Competitor moves get spotted after they've already landed.
Three connected views of the same market
1. The vehicle – how it's built, specified and priced
2. The market – what's actually selling, and the real mix behind the headline.
3. The money – the incentives, offers and payments that decide what it really costs to sell a car, and where the margin ends up.
All this data is built into the same foundation, so they work as one connected picture rather than separate data sets.
Data most people can't get, in markets most people don't reach
Some of what we collect is publicly available. Much of it isn't. Our data is built from hundreds of sources, researched market by market and brought together into one consistent view.
We gather data and insights across passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, motorcycles in India and quadricycles from selected brands in selected European markets.
Direct from manufacturers
Portals, configurators and price lists, tracked market by market so we catch changes as they happen.
Volumes
Sales and registration data showing what’s genuinely selling in each market and how demand is changing.
Incentives intelligence
Information is researched in the market on a regular basis to capture new incentive programs and any changes to existing incentive programs
Researched in-market
Intelligence gathered and checked by people who understand the market, adding the local context needed to make the data consistent and useful.
One Language, applied to everything we hold
The same safety system (for example Stability Control) can appear under a dozen different names depending on the brand and the market, which makes any real comparison almost impossible. So we describe everything we collect in a single common language of our own - the same feature names, the same definitions, whether the car is in Chile or China.
Data Definitions is our own dictionary. It means you can put any vehicle alongside any other, in any market, confident that you’re comparing like for like.
A car is rarely quite the same from one market to the next. The equipment changes, the trims change, the pricing changes. We never assume a vehicle is identical everywhere, so what you see reflects what's genuinely on offer in that market.
At the same time, every market is held to the same standard, which means you get the real local detail without losing the ability to compare across borders.
Prices move, offers expire and specifications get revised halfway through a model year. We retain the history of those changes, so you can see how a model, price or market has moved over time.
For more than 40 years, we've been researching automotive markets around the world, combining multiple sources with local market knowledge and a consistent methodology to build a clearer picture of what is happening in each market.
Hundreds of sources, one definition of a vehicle
Automotive data arrives from hundreds of separate sources, and very little of it agrees on what to call things. We standardise, validate and link that information down to vehicle version level.
The JATO UID gives that vehicle a shared identity across our data, so its specification, price, incentives and sales performance can all be connected to the same vehicle.
That's what turns hundreds of separate sources into one consistent view of the market.
A snapshot tells you where the market is. History tells you how it got here.
We've been recording the automotive market since 1984. That historical depth means you can see not just where a market is today, but how vehicles, prices, specifications and demand have changed over time.
You can access JATO data through our online platforms, as direct feeds into your own systems, or via our APIs. Our data sits behind decisions made right across the automotive industry, and inside the systems that run it.
